Do you ever notice a general theme that seems to play out in them? No?  Well my girlfriend has and she started making a list and when she showed it to me I couldn't help but laugh. We started checking out more and coming across yet more and more series with the same general theme. There ARE exceptions but my freaking god, 3/4 of the stuff we've come across is the same! If there's a nice guy in the story you can bet your ass he's going to lose to the douchebag too!

Anyway, on to the list! Quotes are taken from the series' descriptions.

Desire climax - "To help out her desperately poor family, she takes on a part-time job. Then, one night, a boy snatches a kiss from her & offers her money, saying, "I'll buy you.""

Hanayomesama wa 16-sai  - "the one waiting for her was Shinga, a super rich and hot guy, but also extremely arrogant and horrible. Suddenly, he declares that starting today, she's his wife, and he stole her first kiss?!"

Akutou Danshi Collection - "his dorm is known as "the city of crime,a place with no order where trouble is always happening. When the leader of the troublemakers Kazuomi, kisses Suzuno, things start to get really chaotic!"

S Kareshi Joujou - "After a lucky draw on her first visit to the hostel she became the school prince Shimchi's room mate. Although Shimchi looks like a gentleman that everyone admires, privately he may actually be a sadist! The defenseless lamb Chiaki has caught the eye of wild wolf Shimchi! She tries all sorts of methods to escape from him yet still finds herself unable to escape from Shimchi's kisses..."

Itazura no Kiss - "Aihara Kotoko has had a crush on Irie Naoki since freshman year. Ice-cold Naoki who hates girls and is a genius at practically everything from studies to sports. He gets the top score on every exam; and he's so smart, popular, and handsome that he's been class president every year. "

Mars - "Delinquent motorcyclist and playboy, Rei, gets ahold of one of her drawings, and actually wants to keep it"

Akuma de Sourou - "she's given her love letter to Takeru Edogawa who just so happens to be the school principal's son, head of the delinquents and the notorious "Prince of Attraction"!"

Hanatsuki Hime - "One day, while they were traveling, they suddenly meet an egoistic prince and a ring spirit...A Thousand and One Nights romance between the devil and the young girl."

Goong - "she has to marry the prince who apparently is a total bastard!"

Shinigami Lovers - "But suddenly, she got into a terrible accident, and the shinigami Sei fastened his chain of death onto her wrist! Sei may be hot, but he is a bit scary."

Bokutachi wa Shitte Shimatta - "she has been made fun of by Kaji Yukito who's the center of attention in the class. Rumors are that he was a delinquent during Middle school but he doesn't look like one."

Kemonotachi no Yoru - "she finds herself inexplicably drawn to the demonically possessed Sakura, a guy who would as readily rip apart his own parents as seek her healing embrace."

Asura  - "Hot demonic lords appear one after another, all aiming for Haruka, who doesn't have a single relative!"

Sugar Addiction - "Armed with nothing but her wits and 500 won, she sets off, loses her money and has a run-in with a loud-mouth pretty boy"

Parfait Tic - "Fuuko is a happy and cheerful girl. One day, two cousins, Daiya and Ichi, move into the apartment upstairs. Cold Ichi and mischievous Daiya gave a very bad first impression!"

Ayahatori Shoukanjou - "what appears in front of her is a man with matchless beauty. Now she must learn to control her powers as well as learn how to live with a familiar with matchless aristocratic snark."

Idol-sama no Yoru no Okao- "Aya is totally in love with Zero, the sexiest idol in all Japan. Zero promises her to be her boyfriend only on one condition: by being his puppet and do whatever he asks her to do."

Bishounen no Oheya - "Sakurano Koyuki is the smart daughter of a poor family. In the latest exam, she came in second place, first place was snatched by snobby rich guy, Jinguu Itsuki! After kicking him for his bad manners, she discovers that she has to go work as a maid for a rich family...and it happens to be Itsuki's...?!"

Saesang Bring It On! - " (Strong and resilient) HyoYi is a poor girl with a scholarship to one of the most exclusive private schools, attended only by kids from the richest families. Then she meets MinHa.." <- Minha is the "Perfect face and body" "Ice Prince" king of the school. He's a rich, arrogant, sadistic and good-looking psycopath.

The Prince's Cactus - "Since young, Elian has been groomed to be the crown prince, filled with natural confidence; hmm, to speak better of it, he'd be said to be a distinguished speaker of good temperament. To put it bluntly, he's an arrogant person. Dan, on the other hand, is a girl whose father has left her for another woman, and she has to work for a living. "

Series without having the guys in their descriptions: *****SPOILER ALERTS*****

Hana Yori Dango - Poor Girl enters school where four rich super good-looking assholes rule through fear and terror. Nice guys and total strangers get assaulted, beaten up and sent to hospital with possibly permanent injury by these guys. One of the four douchebags isn't so douchebaggey and acts somewhat nicely to the Heroine. Forms corner of a love triangle with the fully douchebaggey douchebag. GUESS WHO SHE DOESN'T END UP WITH.

Kaichou wa Maid Sama - Heroine is poor and hard working. Male lead is a good looking, super-perfect, super-rich, creepy stalker possessive type arrogant pompous playboy prick. Nice guy enters the equation and creates a love triangle situation. GUESS WHO SHE ENDS UP WITH.

Yumeiro Patissiere - Male lead is a tsundere.

Beauty Pop - Shougo Narumi is a tsundere.

Peach Girl - Manipulative playboy enters the love triangle, kisses the heroine against her will and tries to break up the heroine and her (naive but very nice) boyfriend. GUESS WHO SHE ENDS UP WITH.

Kitchen Princess - Girl she initially likes is a very nice guy while the second is a rude tsundere bastard. GUESS WHO SHE ENDS UP WITH. GO ON, GUESS.

Lovey Dovey - Heroine is in love with a nice guy. Arrogant pompous prick comes along and tries to have sex with her, is intrigued by her refusal, calls her his woman and kisses her against her will. Haven't finished reading but we can already guess who she's going to end up with.

Feel free to add more series to the list!

Sidenote:

Saesang Bring It On!  - She goes "Why did you help me?" and he goes "I was raised in a very refined environment, so I can't stomach violence". I start laughing loudly going "Oh man, good one" since this was said AFTER he strangled her and almost killed a teacher.. then I realized he was being totally serious and she doesn't take it as a joke either. Look over at GF and she's got this massive "WTF" expression as well

Consider Star wars. It has generation A (New trilogy - Anakin, episodes 1-3) and generation B(Old Trilogy Luke, episodes 4-6). How you go about watching these has a MASSIVE impact on how you enjoy them.

(1) Watching B before watching A: You hear bits and pieces from A, lots of characters you would know, and things you'd see coming or already know about - they all surprise you. ie. Darth Vader's "I am you father" scene.
(2) Watching A after watching B: A lot of big surprises won't really surprise you because you know how they turn out. A lot of time spent is trying to guess how things got to the way they will be in B.
(3) Watching B after watching A: A lot of big surprises won't really surprise you because you know how things got that way. The big scenes like Darth Vader's "I am you father" won't have anywhere near as much impact as it did in (1). Luke kissing his sister and that will seem incredibly gross because while *they* don't know they're related, you do.

(1) is how Star Wars was presented to us. (2) is the natural result of (1), while (3) is how most stories are actually told.

Whichever you go with, you have a totally different viewing/reading experience. Which is the best is debatable. On top of that many authors will write prequels, and reading those before the rest of the series will change the reading experience massively as well.

So, here's the first question. If someone wants to get into the series and the author has created a prequel book (with spoilers and everything for the original series) should the reader read it first, or only at the end?

My story has multiple generations of characters, and because of it I have absolutely no idea where to start.

**Annavarines are witches, made to bring the dead back to life. They were intended to nullify the suffering of wars, and keep loved ones together.

Gen 1) Start of the Celestial War generation. Gods fighting, creating armies across the stars. The first Annavarines are created and conflicts between many races and religions are created. The first friendships and enemies are made.
Gen 2) Deep into the Celestial War generation. Many of the Annavarines are stolen by a certain God and corrupted, turned into his slaves. Massive betrayals on every side and the Annavarines become a divided race, swapping many enemies and friends.
Gen 3) Post-Celestial War. No more Gods. Annavarines in the Afterlife create worlds for the dead to live in, but many find it pointless and lack purpose. New Annavarines know nothing of Gods or past events, and have to deal with problems resulting from them.

Now, here's the thing.

If I start @ Gen 1 would be easiest and most conventional, but it might also be the most boring. Lots of the surprises and stuff in Gen 2 you'd see coming from a mile away etc.
If I start @ Gen 2..

Screw it.. I should probably start with generation 1 lol.

www.primaxstudio.com/stuff/sca… A very fun and enlightening thing to play around with. It will really open your eyes too as how insignificant so many of our problems are compared to the grand scheme of things.

A couple of other great pics upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia… i.imgur.com/ZDp21.jpg

I really haven't done much drawing lately but I'm trying to get back into it. Apologies for having had nothing much of anything in ages.

What an amazing, incredible experience it was. The last episode, my god did it make the entire show worth it.

I haven't liked or felt so emotional about a show's characters in a long long time. This will probably be my favourite series for the 2010, even with the epic trolling it dished out earlier on.

Driving from Rockingham to Fremantle at 9pm. Little guy was running right, I swerved to the left. I thought I made it, saw the little guy suddenly running left before it went out of view. A moment later there was a little bump and in the rear view mirror I saw a little shape surrounded by blood.

RIP poor rabbit :(
